Barbara Rush Jenkins, RN graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. Following graduation, she went to work at Holmes Hospital as a charge nurse for the next year. After her marriage, she moved to Kansas while her husband completed his enlistment with the US Army. While in Kansas, she worked in the Operating Room, Recovery Room and Emergency Room of St. Mary's Hospital in Manhattan, KS.

Her next two years were spent working in the Recovery Room at Grant Hospital in Columbus, OH followed by two more years at Epp Memorial Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. After the birth of her first child, she spent the next 11 years as a stay at home Mom and had a second child. When she decided to return to work, she continued her nursing career at Bethesda North Hospital as a staff nurse for 18 years.

In the fall of 2004, she went to work for Anthem and was one of the original nurses in their new Radiology Precertification Department, eventually becoming one of it's managers. She retired from Anthem and nursing in 2012.

Barbara has been a member of the Alumni Association since graduation and became a Trustee in 2015. Retirement has found her travelling and then caring for her husband during his illness. Presently she is caring for her two youngest grandchildren.
